چکیده

We introduce an extended data-model for high resolution channel parameter estimation and parametric channel modeling. Other than the well-known ray-optical based data models which contain only discrete (specular) propagation paths, we additionally introduce distributed diffuse scattering components. To this end a simple parametric data model of the diffuse scattering distribution in the delay domain is proposed. Furthermore, we develop an estimator for those model parameters and derive their Cramér-Rao lower bound. Finally we discuss implementation related issues, which arise if the extended channel model is integrated into existing high-resolution parameter estimation algorithms (such as ESPRIT, RIMAX, or SAGE) for the estimation of discrete propagation paths. It is demonstrated that also the reliability of high-resolution parameter estimation results in channel sounding measurements can be considerably enhanced.

Polarisation Behaviour of Discrete Multipath and Diffuse Scattering in Urban Environments at 4.5GHz

In this paper, the polarisation behaviour of the mobile MIMO radio channel is analysed from polarimetric double directional channel measurements, which were performed in a macro-cell rural environment in Tokyo. The recorded data comprise non line of sight, obstructed line of sight and line of sight conditions. The gradient based Maximum-Likelihood estimation framework RIMAX was used to estimate...

Investigation of Performance Improvement of EAMVs in Diffuse Scattering Channels

1 Introduction In order to reuse a channel model, it is requisite to separate the channel model from its measurement system and estimation procedures. For this purpose, the concept of a parametric channel model is introduced. Considering direction of arrival (DOA) estimation, a traditionally used signal model in a parametric channel model, which is a plane wave model, can be reasonable if and o...

Evaluation of Doppler-Delay Properties of Diffuse Components in Vehicular Propagation Channels

In this contribution, both numerical and experimental investigations are performed to evaluate the impact of diffuse scattering on the characteristics of vehicular propagation channels in highway environments. The response of a vehicle-tovehicle (V2V) channel can be composed of discrete specular path components and diffuse scattering components. Simulation results in two V2V scenarios with diff...

Radio Channel Prediction Based on Parametric Modeling

Long range channel prediction is a crucial technology for future wireless communications. The prediction of Rayleigh fading channels is studied in the frame of parametric modeling in this thesis. Suggested by the Jakes model for Rayleigh fading channels, deterministic sinusoidal models were adopted for long range channel prediction in early works. In this thesis, a number of new channel predict...
